BIOGRAPHY

Angel is a New York based multi-hyphenate artist working across photography, film, and theatre. A self-taught photographer, his creative journey began through street photography — documenting his hometown, the everyday hustle of New York City, and anything that inspired his eye for storytelling. Over the past few years, his work has evolved into a professional studio practice focused on portrait and fashion photography, blending cinematic imagery with raw human emotion and authenticity.

Alongside his visual work, Rivas is an accomplished playwright. He received a 2025 Finalist Prize from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts for his play Drought. His short play The Forever Machine was commissioned by Vivid Stage and premiered on their main stage last year, while his play Track was nominated for Outstanding Production of an Original Play at the Perry Awards in 2024, following it’s run at Villagers’ Theatre. His work has been developed and featured at organizations including INTAR Theatre, The Barrow Group, The Tank, Teatro LATEA, New Jersey Play Lab, and The 24-Hour Plays. He’s also the Associate Artistic Director of The Makers’ Ensemble in Brooklyn, New York. Education: BFA in Theatre from Montclair State University.
